SADA was formed in 2003 as a non-profit, volunteer organization of dentists for the purpose of providing Continuing Education and promoting excellence in dentistry to Dentists and patients.  It was the work of a non-dentist, Mr. Elesh Ruparel that laid the foundation of this study club. Mr. Ruparel, who served on the Board and Executive committee of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, worked with the Registrar, Mr. Irwin Fefergrad, to organize the first meeting of South Asian Dentists in Ontario and in Canada. Mr. Ruparel was able to form a committee of dentists including Dr. Girish Hattay, Dr. Heena Vyas, Dr. Pravin Patel, Dr. Neil Gajjar, Dr. Vageesh Sabharval, Dr. Sanjay Uppal, Dr. Perminder Dhaliwal, Dr. Rina Kotecha and Dr. Anupama Reddy.

Since its initial inception SADA has held a number of events that have been very well-received by all participants. Other programs the group produce a fantastic continuing education program, a very successful Oral Health Awareness Campaign, and a very well received Opening Gala and Exhibition. The Association holds and promotes evening and full day participation seminars. As well as being able to provide hands-on training for all attendees. 

Today, SADA is accredited with the RCDSO, AGD.  SADA membership represents all members of the dental community including dentists, denturists, office managers, treatment coordinators, hygienists and assistants. This Association has come a long way since its inception, and we commend their volunteer organizers for such an accomplishment.
